MLFA’s Civil Litigation Department Head Christian A. Jump spoke on the key differences between CAIR and MLFA. Jump explains, “there’s enough work right now for all of us, and enough need for all of us. MLFA refers state court matters to CAIR and trust they will represent the community well in those
- CAIR does more traditional community activism than we do, while we are set up very much as a nonprofit law firm.
- We make our statements in court, and regarding our active cases and clients.
In the areas where we do overlap with CAIR, we welcome collaboration with them and have worked with CAIR National attorneys many times before. Their attorneys have served as local counsel for us on more than one instance in the past, and we’ve filed amicus (supporting) briefs when they’ve litigated cases on issues we support as well.
