Campus Protests Texas Style: Gov. Abbott’s shifting views on students’ rights!

Jump takes us through a “Free Speech Time Lapse, Texas Style!” Here’s an overview of Texas’ 2019 free speech law, designed to protect speech on college campuses. It all began with Gov. Greg Abbott’s response to a white supremacist speaker whose invitation was revoked. Fast forward to March of this year, Gov. Abbott signed an Executive Order targeting Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC) and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) members for discipline, including expulsion. And just yesterday, April 23, 2024, Gov. Abbott ordered the arrest of protestors, stating “These protestors belong in jail.”
