Keepers of Justice Event Unites Hearts in Illinois this Ramadan

Last week, Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) curated an intimate Ramadan Iftar hosted in sacred space of Maaria Mozaffar ‘s home. Maaria is a Legislative Attorney, authors, speaker and advocate with over 20 years in legislative experience. The event was co-hosted by Arshia Ali-Khan CEO of MLFA, with special guest Isra Chaker, Senior Campaign Manager at Amnesty International. Isra is a creative social architect striving to connect people to drive advocacy and influence positive change. She has years of experience both in the private and public sectors.

Over 50 of our most discerning, inspiring and courageous donors showed up in support of the vital work MLFA does to ensure justice prevails. We gathered and discussed important issues impacting our communities, like the role Muslims have always played as the keepers of justice, and as moral anchors in society. We discussed our recent victories like our historic court ruling in the case of Khan v. United States for government liability for malicious prosecution of an American Muslim, and how our Civil Litigation team discovered a letter, unprotected on the internet, that identifies who is funding the ongoing seven-year-old lawsuit against American Muslims for Palestine (“AMP”).

Breaking our fast with our closest friends in Chicago, warmed our hearts. Thank you for your unwavering resolve to stand for justice amidst the most difficult of times.

A sincere thank you to our hosts, and to everyone who joined.
