MLFA empowers the Muslim nonprofit community by providing a range of pro bono legal services, training, and community outreach.
Our Goals
1. Encourage effective organizational decisions that benefit programs and clients.
2. Support operations within legal parameters and reduce scrutiny.
3. Encourage better stewardship of organizational assets and mission.
4. Promote community confidence.
5. Support ethical decision-making and transparency.
6. Promote the equitable participation of minority-led and Muslim American nonprofits.
7. Provide thought leadership about Muslim American nonprofits.
8. Develop capacity amongst legal providers – in support of nonprofits.
9. Advance knowledge about diversity, equity, and inclusion.
10. Unearth practices and challenges within the Muslim American nonprofit subsector.

LEGAL SERVICES
- GRC Legal Screenings – MLFA currently offers Governance-Risk-Compliance legal screenings only for Texas and Indiana-registered 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations.
*In the process of adding IL, NY, CA. - Bylaws Review – A review of an organization’s origination documents, ie: Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Handbook/policies.
*organization can be located in any state. - Pro Bono Governance Legal Clinics (Bylaws Review) in select cities ONLY.
TRAINING
- MLFA CLE’s – In partnership with local Muslim Bar Associations, MLFA offers nonprofit law training for MLFA Ambassadors for CLE credit (varies by state). Please visit our “Events” page to find out when our next CLE will be offered.
