MLFA’s Advocacy Brings U.S. Citizen Child Home from Syrian Refugee Camp
[Dallas, June 13, 2023] – Today, MLFA is proud to announce the successful repatriation of a nine-year-old special needs child, referred to as A.A*., from a Syrian refugee camp back to his grandparents’ care in the United States. A.A*. is a U.S. citizen by birth, yet he had been enduring years of hardship in the camp, deprived of proper medical care. MLFA, with its dedicated advocacy, intervened on his behalf.
MLFA’s principled approach to advocacy has earned the respect of government agencies. It is through this respect, combined with MLFA’s expertise, that the State Department agreed to airlift A.A*. from Syria and reunite him with his family in the United States. Here, he will receive the essential medical attention and care he desperately needs.
Expressing their profound gratitude, A.A*.s grandparents shared, “From not knowing whether our grandson was alive or not, to getting to hold him in our arms, was the biggest blessing we could ask for. This miracle would not be possible without God’s help and the relentless effort on MLFA’s part. We cannot thank MLFA enough for all the help and support they have provided us with.” This sentiment is shared by everyone at MLFA as we celebrate this victory for A.A*., and the many other children who are still waiting for their chance at freedom and a better life in their home country of America.
The unintended victims of the United States anti-terrorism policies are too often the innocent family members of persons suspected of terrorism-related crimes.
