MLFA’s Civil Attorneys Stand Up For AMP: Defending AMP In Congressional Committee Inquiries

MLFA’s Civil Litigation department continues its steadfast work on behalf of American Muslims for Palestine. We proudly represent AMP in state and federal courts, as well as in response to recent inquiries from the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. On behalf of AMP, we promptly responded that AMP operates independently from National SJP and doesn’t have NSJP’s records, so can’t provide them to the Committee.
But the Committee, led by Rep. James Comer, didn’t like that answer. So he sent another letter.  And we gave the same answer — AMP still doesn’t have those records, so cannot provide them. Rep. Comer apparently still didn’t like the answer and asked, a third time.
And guess what we did? Answered again, explaining for the third time and in a third way that AMP can’t provide what it doesn’t have. Seems like a silly use of taxpayer money to continue this circle, but we will continue responding as long as AMP needs our legal help. Because when we take on a client, we stay in it for the long haul, and we don’t back down.
