MLFA’s Civil Litigation Attorneys Secure Reinstatement for Wrongfully Targeted Professor

MLFA’s Civil Litigation Department celebrates the reinstatement of a professor at a community college who was wrongfully targeted for his religious affiliations. The school initially terminated our client based on a provably false assertion that he posed a threat to the school. When he attempted to clear his name, the school asked him about a blog post from a noted Islamophobe that discriminatorily — and wrongly — tied our client’s legal work for the Muslim community to terrorist affiliations. Our client provided more information to the school about his background, and the school merely put his termination on hold but never got back to him.
Our Civil Litigation attorneys contacted the school for more information and made a public records request under Florida’s “Sunshine Laws.” Shortly after receiving the request, the school provided the public records and reinstated our client to his position.
While we appreciate the school’s step in the right direction, our attorneys will continue to investigate the cause of the unfair termination in the first place, and take action if the school violated our client’s rights.
