What will I learn?
This program brings together comparative law perspectives on issues of economic justice and philanthropy. Speakers will discuss Islamic social finance concepts and legally constructed tools, including the role of Islamic endowments in relation to community resilience and non profit practices in a pluralistic society.
Session 1 focuses on the role of Islamic social finance in promoting economic justice in society. Session 2 examines the waqf as an Islamic finance tool. Session 3 promotes the engagement of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with Islamic social finance.
How does this event benefit the Muslim community?
MLFA protects the civil rights of Muslim Americans. Our objective is to roll back the post-9/11 policies and legal precedents that have negatively and disproportionately affected Muslim American individuals and organizations.
Through legal education and through these crucial conversations, we’re strengthening our Muslim leaders and communities.
