Stand with Marwan: The Heart of Our Community Shackled

Brother Marwan Marouf, a respected leader in the Dallas Muslim community, was suddenly taken into ICE custody on September 22, 2025. Marwan is a man of deep faith, mighty principles, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. There but for the grace of God goes any of us, but here, it is the very best of us. Those who love him have turned their prayers into action, standing firm with him in this moment. Concern alone is not enough; together, we must bring the tools and backing needed to fuel his will to fight.

This moment is bigger than one case, ICE has been directed to pursue an impossible target of 3,000 arrests per day,1 a quota designed to tear apart families, weaken our communities, and silence the voices of our leaders.

What We Know

  • Marwan was detained by ICE on September 22, 2025, while dropping one of his kids off at school.
  • He is currently in custody while his legal case unfolds.
  • MLFA’s Immigration Litigation team is working with him and in partnership with a coalition of outstanding attorneys, to include Hassan Ahmad, Furqan Azhar, Chris Godshall-Bennett, Maria Kari, Eric Lee, Lee Merritt, Esq, and Isaul Verdin.
  • Marwan’s coalition of lawyers is working tirelessly to achieve the justice he richly deserves.

Muslim Legal Fund of America has stood with Brother Marwan for more than six years, leading his legal defense in both immigration and federal court. Today, under the direction of our Legal Director Marium Uddin, MLFA’s Immigration Litigation Department, strengthened by a team of expert attorneys, is fighting to expose the government’s mischaracterizations, challenge the denial of his green card application, and uphold his constitutional rights. MLFA’s work goes beyond this single case: we are here to confront the systemic abuse built on a pretextual campaign promise to execute the largest mass deportation in history that nets exemplary Muslim leaders to ensure due process is not denied, and to defend the dignity and freedoms of our community in the face of discriminatory policies.
