CIVIL LITIGATION DEPARTMENT
The Issue
Religious discrimination occurs when individuals face unfair treatment solely based on their religious beliefs, violating the principles of religious freedom that America was founded upon. American Muslims often experience discrimination due to their religious affiliation, which can have detrimental effects on their lives and well-being.
American Muslims facing religious discrimination encounter various challenges. They may be subjected to biased judgments or held to different standards solely because of their religious beliefs. For example, local zoning ordinances may be applied differently to mosques and Islamic schools, impeding their ability to practice their faith freely. Additionally, false assumptions and stereotypes may lead to prejudices in employment, where individuals are deemed incapable or automatically viewed with suspicion based solely on their religious beliefs.
The Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) is actively engaged in fighting against religious discrimination. With decades of experience in litigating discrimination issues, MLFA’s team of Civil Litigation attorneys works tirelessly to protect their clients’ rights and challenge unjust treatment. We combat discriminatory practices, such as inconsistent zoning ordinances, by utilizing their expertise in federal court litigation. Notably, two of our MLFA’s attorneys are Board Certified in Labor and Employment Litigation by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
MLFA’s dedication to fighting religious discrimination stems from the belief that it goes against the core values of America. Through their legal expertise and commitment to justice, they strive to create a society that upholds religious freedom and ensures equal treatment for all.
