How MLFA Moves Us

I asked some of the kind people who work for MLFA to answer two questions. I believe that their heartfelt commitment to this work and the value they see it in will clarify our purpose and communicate our dedication to the struggle for equality and justice, insha Allah.

There’s Justice in Telling the Truth

“If you’re not ready to die for it, put the word ‘freedom’ out of your vocabulary.”

“Nobody can give you freedom. Nobody can give you equality or justice or anything. If you’re a man, you take it.”

– Malcolm X

Not on the Map

I’m kind of a Mo Amer fan. I have seen two of his standup specials, and recently I watched the first season of Mo on Netflix. I enjoyed it. It’s funny; the characters were realistic and likable; it was easy to watch the whole season in a day or two. Our MLFA-funded Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America (CLCMA) has been recognized and referenced by the legal community for our experience and expertise on Watchlist-related cases.

Fellow Feelings – 3 Inspiring Muslim Protagonists

I love fiction because it puts me inside looking out at history while it happens. If I want to understand a moment in history, I usually read fiction first. Once I deeply care about the events as they impact the individual, I then become truly interested in how the broader history connects.

Your Shield, Your Pillar

Our brand is changing.

Originally, MLFA funded cases one at a time. This case-funding model helped us understand the cases and the issues. However, over time, we looked for ways to conserve time, money, and other resources.

Do I need an immigration lawyer?

Yes. The short answer is yes.

Better safe than sorry. You can waste so much time and money, making small mistakes that an attorney may be able to help you avoid.
