The Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) is investing in scholarships with trusted organizations like Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF) to help cultivate the next generation of American Muslim leaders in law and policy. By empowering aspiring legal professionals and policymakers with the education and resources they need, we are not only supporting their personal and professional growth but also strengthening our community’s capacity to advocate for justice and equity. These scholarships ensure that talented and dedicated individuals have the opportunity to make significant contributions to the legal field, championing the rights of Muslims and fostering a more inclusive and fair society.

To be considered applicants must meet the following criteria:  

– Muslim or active member of the Muslim community 

– Enrolled full-time at an accredited university in the U.S. by August; OR employed full-time in an ISF Supported Field and a part-time student at an accredited university in the U.S 

– An undergraduate (junior or senior) or of graduate standing (master’s, PhD, or law degree) 

Studying an ISF-supported major 

– Maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA 

– A U.S. citizen, DACA recipient, or permanent U.S. resident 

Since 2009, ISF has awarded 574 scholarships to American Muslim scholars studying and working in fields with the greatest impact on public opinion and policy, including political science, government, public policy, international relations, and public administration. Policy-related scholarships range from $3,000-5,000. Our goal: to improve negative portrayals of Muslims in the news, increase the number of Muslim policymakers, and invest in the creation of positive and engaging stories about American Muslims.
